Two charter flights are scheduled to bring home more than 400 Taiwanese stranded in Hubei province, according to sources. Sources said last night that China Airlines (CAL), a leading carrier in Taiwan, and Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines would each send a charter flight today to evacuate Taiwanese nationals back to Taiwan, CNA reports. Following the first charter flight on February 3, authorities in Taiwan and China blamed each other for hindering efforts to evacuate the remaining Taiwanese. Reports indicate that the 470 Taiwanese were instructed on Sunday by Chinese authorities in charge of cross- strait affairs to go to Wuhan in preparation for the charter flights. CAL has flown quarantine personnel from Taiwan to Wuhan to carry out examinations before the charter flights leave the Chinese city, the sources said.
