Tahsildar to issue EWS income certificates


The State government has decided to issue income certificates to candidates hailing from the economically weaker sections in line with the recently enacted Constitution (103rd Amendment) Act envisaging up to 10 % reservations to EWS in Central educational institutions and in recruitment for civil posts in the Central government offices. The State government has, however, notified the Tahsildar as the nodal officer to issue the certificates to all eligible students from the EWS and the issuance of certificates started a couple of days ago. Senior officials said it was decided to issue income certificates to eligible candidates so that they could apply for examinations to the Central institutions of learning. In the guidelines issued, the Government persons not covered under the scheme of reservations for SC/ST and OBC categories and certain conditions are prescribed for issuing the income and assets certificates. Accordingly, people from families whose gross annual income from all sources is less than ₹ 8 lakh will be eligible to seek income certificates as part of the scheme.
