MANILA, Philippines — Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Manila archbishop, on Sunday urged the Catholic faithful, particularly seafarers, not to forget the poor as they earn more and achieve comfort in life along with their families. “When our life gets better, let’s not forget the less fortunate,” he said in his homily to mark National Seafarers Day. ADVERTISEMENT“All of us are aspiring to provide a better life for our families and our country, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But if it leads us to becoming numb and blind to the needs for others, then you cannot call it real progress,” Tagle stressed. Tagle also reminded the faithful to continue praying for the welfare of seafarers and other migrant workers.
