TSX ticks lower as U.S. stock markets mixed, loonie falls


Canada’s main stock index ticked lower Monday, while U.S. stock markets were also little changed in late-morning trading. The S&P/TSX composite index was down 1.60 points to 16,037.66, after 90 minutes of trading. The S&P 500 index was down 0.41 of a point to 2,581.89 and the Nasdaq composite index was down 3.12 points to 6,747.82. The Bank of Canada, which publishes the daily average exchange rate of the Canadian dollar, is closed in lieu of Remembrance Day. In international trading the Canadian dollar was at 78.61 cents U.S., down from an average price of 78.85 cents U.S. on Friday.
