Led by Matt Biondi, the U.S. swimmer who won five gold medals at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the International Swimmers’ Alliance (ISA) announced itself to the world Tuesday. As it stands, precisely zero of those dollars goes to the actual swimmers, who aren’t paid to compete at the Olympics or the FINA world championships. “Swimming is one of the only premier sports at the Olympics that doesn’t already have something like this.
