The fire is said to have started around 11am in the morning damaged a room housing old storing old case files. Police officers had to evacuate the cells containing the suspects as the smoke and fire would have cost their lives. Langat said the fire could have been caused by faulty electric connection at the station. Their attempts to contain the fire failed as it spread and destroyed the old case files being stored.
