The incident occurred in the Habirchhara hill area of Teknaf around 4am on Tuesday. The deceased, Yasin Ahmed, 25, from the upazila's Lamar Bazar area, was a listed drug trader and a criminal, police claimed. Upon seeing the police, the drug trader allegedly opened fire at them, causing the police to fire back in self-defense. The deceased had at least five cases against him with the Teknaf police station, he added.
