MELAKA: A suspected drug pusher drowned when he jumped into the Melaka River to avoid arrest near Jambatan Hang Jebat here today. The body of the suspect, believed to be in his 30s and clad in a white shirt and jeans, was retrieved at 2.52pm. "When approached, one of them ran and jumped into the river. Jalan Kubu Fire and Rescue Department Senior Fire Officer II Arshad Mail said the department received a distress call at 2.02pm and arrived at the scene four minutes later with six firemen. Kamaluddin said checks showed that the 42-year-old suspect, who has previous drugs and criminal record, was also a wanted man.
