More than 50 percent of about 4,400 Hong Kong secondary students rated their stress levels as high, the highest number in 10 years. The survey by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups on about 4,400 students was conducted in September and October to determine stress levels and identify underlying causes at the start of the academic year. The poll showed that 52.2 percent of the respondents gave a “high stress” index score on a self-assessed scale, with nearly 21 percent of them showing a tendency of anxiety. Under the new learning mode, 78 percent of students worried about handling their tests and examinations. The Federation pointed out that students having to deal with their study amid the pandemic must not put too much pressure on themselves, urging students to slowly solve their problems step by step.
