Ewan SpenceStrictly speaking the Surface Book 2 could be seen as the third major variant of the Surface Book family. On top of the choice of processors and storage for the original Surface Book, Microsoft also released an interim version called the Surface Book Performance Edition. The Surface Book 2 with the Core i5 matches the base Surface Book in terms of size, while the new Core i7 model matches the Performance Base version of the Surface Book. If you split hairs, there are some differences, but practically the Surface Book 2 will easily pass itself off as a Surface Book 1, until you turn it on.
