The bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, will hear the petitions filed by two mayoral candidates—AL candidate Zahangir Alam and BNP candidate Hasan Uddin Sarkar, and Election Commission. The new date has been fixed following an appeal filed by the Election Commission challenging the HC order on the polls on Wednesday. The hearing of the appeals filed by both the mayoral candidates was expected to begin on Wednesday. In accordance with the two candidates’ appeals, the court was ready to hear, but EC lawyer Obaidur Rahman Mustafa told the court that the commission also lodged an appeal against the HC order. Earlier, the BNP mayoral candidate filed a petition challenging the HC order.
