Untreated water was supplied as ‘filtered drinking water’ to different shops in Tejgaon and Karwanbazar with people buying and drinking them. A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion or RAB and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution or BSTI found three illegal companies selling drinking water in a drive on Tuesday. All three companies have been closed and nine of their employees were jailed for varying terms by the mobile court. Four other illegal water selling companies have been found in other parts of Tejgaon. Cold Everest and Jibon Drinking Water, other two drinking water marketing companies, have been fined Tk 100,000 each.
