The chamber judge on Tuesday also forwarded the State’s petition seeking permission to challenge the High Court order to the regular bench of the Appellate Division for hearing on Mar 29. Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Debnath argued for the State at the hearing. A High Court bench on Oct 25 last year halted the proceedings of the case and issued a rule. The Supreme Court’s chamber judge has now stayed the High Court order after hearing the State’s plea. The attorney general told bdnews24.com there is no bar to proceed with the case now.
