Supreme Court’s in-house panel finds no substance in harassment allegations against Chief Justice

There is no substance in allegations of sexual harassment filed against the Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the top court’s internal inquiry committee has said in its report submitted on Monday. The three-judge committee had inquired into a harassment complaint filed by a former court staffer in his office on 19 April. Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi had responded to the charges by convening an urgent hearing the next day. “The In-House Committee has found no substance in the allegations,” the court announcement said. Last week, a three-judge bench asked retired Supreme Court judge AK Patnaik to probe such allegations.
