Awapuni Four Square owners Margaret, right, and Vijay Patel were robbed on Tuesday. Two Palmerston North shop owners have been left shaken after a terrifying 90-second ordeal in which they were attacked during a robbery. Security footage seen by Stuff shows one thief jump on to the counter and attack Margaret, Vijay and another staff member. New Zealand Indian Central Association president Paul Patel is Margaret's brother and he has been supporting the store owners. He said there had been other dairy robberies recently, so he encouraged shop owners to contact police even if it was a minor crime, so police had a record.
