Lawrence Rodeo Club publicity officer Murray Hellewell said about 1200 people attended, on one of the hottest days in weeks. About 250 people competed in the rodeo events including rope and tie, bareback riding and bull riding. He also competed in the second division bull ride at the rodeo. It was his first time at the Lawrence Rodeo but he had competed in other rodeos. The New Zealand Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit will continue on Waitangi Day with the Outram Rodeo.
