A high‑pressure system or cold air mass is moving down from China, said Sugunyanee Yavinchan, the director‑general of the department. Weather conditions expected in these regions, particularly between Monday and Wednsday, include thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, heavy rain and occasional lightning, while upper Thailand will remain hot to very hot. On Friday night, a thunderstorm with heavy rain struck Chom Thong district in Chiang Mai.
