KUALA LUMPUR: The 10-day public inquiry into the disappearance of four people, including Pastor Raymond Koh (pic), started on Thursday morning. The inquiry is chaired by Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam)commissioner Datuk Mah Weng Kwai who stressed that it was neither a criminal nor civil trial. The public inquiry is held under Section 12(1) of the Human Rights Commission Malaysia Act in connection with the disappearance of Pastor Koh, social activist Amri Che Mat, Pastor Joshua Hilmi and his wife, Ruth Sitepu. The terms of reference for the inquiry are to determine, among others, if the cases involved enforced disappearances or involuntary disappearances in breach of criminal, civil law or applicable human rights laws. Pastor Joshua and Ruth went missing on Nov 30, 2016.
