Sudanese Army claims to have regained control of Sinja – The North Africa Post

The Sudanese Army says it has regained control of Sinja, a key town to the south of the capital Khartoum. “Sinja has returned to the arms of the nation”: this is how the Sudanese government’s information minister announced the news. General Burhan went on Saturday to the city of Sennar, 60 km further north, to “celebrate” this liberation. The two cities, Sennar and Sinja, fell into the hands of the paramilitaries in June after a lightning offensive. This led to the flight of more than 700,000 Sudanese, according to the UN.
