more-inA day after new electricity tariffs were announced, Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday said the subsidy amount on per unit charge for power will remain the same, meaning the percentage of the subsidy will be more than 50% of the rate. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had been giving 50% subsidy to consumers who use up to 400 units a month since 2015. The amount was ₹2 per unit for those consuming up to 200 units and ₹2.97 per unit for 201-400 units. While the tariff per unit was reduced across categories, fixed charges were hiked across the board. Mr. Jain said despite the hike in fixed charges, consumers will see a decrease in their bills.
