Subdivision plan rejected

PHOTO: ODT FILESA proposal for a subdivision in Arrowtown is headed to the Environment Court. The subdivision, in which lot sizes would range from 3845sqm to 5540sqm, was proposed to be constructed in three stages. The commissioners found the proposal was also contrary to relevant objectives and policies of the operative and proposed district plans. Submitters contended the proposal equated to a form of urban development and pointed to the Arrowtown urban boundary "and the fact that this boundary is not moving". "If not full urban, then the development was certainly a major step towards it ... over time, urban creep would be likely."
