Several hundred demonstrating students of seven public colleges affiliated with the Dhaka University (DU) have called off their protest after Vice-Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman promised to solve their problems. The affiliated colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College. The protesters also want all honours final exams of the academic sessions starting from the 2012-13 conducted soon. She said she already lagged behind by a year compared to the students of the National University of the 2014-15 academic session, in which she was enrolled. The colleges with more than 250,000 students were affiliated with the Dhaka Univesity on February 16 last year.
