Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty announced the verdict on Thursday after hearing the death reference and appeals of the convicts. The convicts are Md Saiful Islam and Md Arif Hossain. The convicts murdered Alpona Khatun at a crop field in Maheshpur Upazila after raping her in 2008, according to the case dossier. The victim’s father Torab Ali filed a case with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal the same year. The tribunal ordered the death sentence in 2011.
