The court directed the government to maintain a status quo amid debates on its plan to cut more than 4,000 trees to expand the road. Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order on Thursday, after the Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed a writ petition. Different quarters, including Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon, have opposed the plan to cut the trees to expand the road into four lanes. Read full story in Bangla
