When Simeon Cook laid his first poppy, he found himself in tears. The 15-year-old Stratford High School student was paying tribute to World War I veterans at the Bourail Cemetery in New Caledonia recently when he noticed the dates on the first gravestone. RSA president Graeme Lowe helps Simeon Cook to lighten up on the serious issue of war. And on Friday, for Armistice Day, Cook stood in front of about 50 people at the Tasman Bowls & Social Club in New Plymouth to tell of his appreciation for those who sacrificed their lives.
