Last season was a tough one for the Canadiens and for Shaw. Shaw had the knee surgery on April 25 and worked extremely hard over the summer to be ready for the Canadiens’ season opener on Oct. 3 in Toronto. “Being behind the 8-ball, not playing a preseason game, not even participating in practices with the team,” Shaw said about his start to the season. The neck injury was giving Shaw headaches and the Canadiens didn’t want to take any chances with him because of his concussion history. I knew I competed, I knew I was gritty, I knew I was a winner and I knew I could help a team win.
