Street racing may have played role in Thanksgiving crash that left 4 dead, police say

Peel police say street racing may have contributed to a collision in Brampton, Ont., on Thanksgiving Daythat left four people dead. Investigators say they've confirmed that 49-year-old Calisto Mendonca — who died in the crash — was operating a Trans Am at an extremely high rate of speed just prior to the crash. Police say video from cameras near the collision scene showing a second vehicle travelling beside Mendonca's car at a similar rate of speed suggests that the two vehicles were racing. (Michelle Bouchard/Facebook)Investigators say they want to speak to anyone who may have seen or have video of the Trans Am and the second unidentified vehicle prior to the collision. "It is very likely that the other driver involved is aware of this collision," said Staff Sgt.
