Aurora Energy is investigating reports of street lights going out between Mosgiel and Port Chalmers. The lights are due to go back on around 11.30pm, a spokeswoman said. Police say the outages don't appear to be connected to any car crashes and are a "mystery". Shortly before 10pm, a fire crew from St Kilda was called out to a burning power pole in Tainui, though it is unclear if the two events are connected. A Fire Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said the crew managed to isolate the power, and it was now in the hands of the power company.
