Stonehenge mass trespass tunnel protest shuts attraction

The protesters, who described themselves as an alliance of local residents, ecologists, activists, archaeologists and pagans, gathered at Stonehenge around midday. The illegal gathering was described as a planned "mass trespass" by participants, forcing the Unesco area of 'Outstanding Universal Value' to close to the public. PROTESTORS staged a mass trespass at Stonehenge this weekend. Another group estimated the number of participants in the "mass protest" at around 100. The Derby chapter of the The Extinction Rebellion group urged activists to join the 'mass trespass'.
