Actor Steve Coogan provoked outrage today after claiming Conservative voters were 'ignorant' - in a comment which left a Channel 4 News presenter laughing. He also said his alter-ego Alan Partridge is 'ill-informed and ignorant and therefore, he's a Conservative and a Brexiteer', which prompted host Cathy Newman to laugh. A fourth added: 'Cathy Newman appears to be the only person who finds the real life Steve Coogan funny. He replied: 'Alan Partridge is ill-informed and ignorant and therefore, he's a Conservative and a Brexiteer, so there you go. 'There are lots of people in government actually who are very like Alan Partridge in that they are super confident and not that well informed.'
