The reduction of State Officers’ salaries by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) is not substantial but it is welcome all the same. SALARIESThe gazetted salaries are still very high even by international standards, leave alone national, especially comparing them with the lower cadre in the public service. Every person in the public service should enjoy the taxpayers’ money equitably. It should not be afraid to bring the justice needed in our public salary structure. To reduce the appetite for public positions, SRC should further reduce their salaries to a bare minimum.
