The government is bound to protect the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and retain it in the public sector in the larger interests of the State and the common people, All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) general secretary K.P. Mr. Rajendran was addressing the State leadership camp of the Kerala State Employees Union (AITUC) at Charalkunnu, near Kozhencherry, on Tuesday. Mr. Rajendran said the State had the legal and social responsibility to protect the employees. The government should enact appropriate legislation for retaining the KSRTC in the public sector, he said. He said a majority of the temporary employees who had been terminated were above 50 years and they should be given employment at various public sector units.
