State Highway 7 reopens after slip clearedNZTA As much as 10 centimetres of snow fell in the Lewis Pass on Thursday. The highway is closed again on Monday morning due to a slip. The main highway through the upper South Island has reopened after a slip closed the road for several hours. The road reopened by 8am, but motorists were warned the slip was still active and would be monitored. The road closure came after heavy snow closed several alpine highways across the South Island over the weekend, disrupting travel and freight transport.
