The road works on State Highway 45 between Omata and Oakura. Investigations have found there is no risk to a stretch of State Highway 45 in Taranaki after the discovery of a hole underground. The New Plymouth-bound lane of State Highway 45, between Omata and Oakura, near the Tapuwae Stream, has been closed since the cavity was found on Friday, March 5. “Further testing in the Oakura-bound lane will continue today as a precautionary measure, to complete testing at the site. "Contractors and engineers are planning to complete remedial works to return SH45 to two lanes before the end of March.”
