A Northland woman is fundraising for and organising her own funeral to ensure her whānau isn't left in debt. Tomuri-Dinsdale’s daughter, Christine Hoban, said her mum was worried about leaving her 65-year-old husband, Warren Dinsdale, in debt after her death. When Tomuri-Dinsdale met with a funeral director in Whangārei, she was told the least expensive package would cost about $5500. “Mum has always been a hard-working Kiwi woman,” Hoban said. Funeral Directors Association president Gary Taylor said each funeral was different, so it was hard to pinpoint how much one would cost.
