'Star Wars' Box Office: 'Solo' Drops 65% For $29M Weekend And $149M Cume

Solo: A Star Wars Story earned $29.3 million in its second Fri-Sun weekend of release. There is almost no plausible scenario where it approaches even the $248m debut weekend of The Force Awakens. So, without question, it’s going to be the lowest-grossing live-action theatrical Star Wars movie of all time in America when adjusted for inflation. Aside from The Clone Wars and those Ewok movies (which played theatrically overseas), Star Wars has (hopefully) hit rock bottom with what was always an ill-advised project. The good news is that this will hopefully offer a lesson in playing it safe with the Star Wars franchise.
