Staff, customers, abused at Auckland Council pools, trespass figures show


Nearly 70 people have been banned from Auckland's public pools in the last yearViolence, threats and harassment towards staff and customers were some of the reasons people were banned from public pools across Auckland in the last year. Just under 70 people received trespass notices, ranging from two weeks to two years in length, from Auckland Council-owned pools. Reasons for the trespass notices include indecent assault, verbal abuse towards customers and staff, fighting by the pool, and aggressive, abusive behaviour towards staff. The person was smoking in the male changing rooms and was abusive and threatening to staff and customers. Head of active recreation for Auckland Council Dave Stewart said its frontline staff "occasionally" dealt with challenging behaviour from visitors – as any frontline staff did.
