St John will have moved into a new base in New Plymouth before the end of the year. St John will move from its home at Taranaki Base Hospital by the end of the year - but has yet to secure a new address to move to. In 2015 the ambulance service made the Taranaki DHB aware it was looking to move its New Plymouth operations to an alternative site. St John and the Taranaki District Health Board have decided that St John's lease will not be renewed beyond December 31, 2019. A new use for the current St John base is being looked at as part of the second stage of Project Maunga, the multi-million dollar hospital redevelopment.
