St George's Girls' Secondary School has not been closed indefinitely following the Saturday evening fire. A teacher told The Star on phone on Tuesday that some students wanted to go home despite being assured of counselling. The fire broke out in the kitchen while the students slept in their dormitories and no casualties were reported. This incident comes a week after another fire killed nine students from Moi Girls' School, which is also in the city.
