COLOMBO, April 6, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Sri Lanka on Monday raised prices ofliquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by nearly a quarter, blaming higher globalprices triggered by the Iran war. As well as gas, Sri Lanka also imports all of its oil and buys coal forelectricity generation. The increase in cooking gas prices on Monday is on top of an eight percenthike last month. "We have supplies for the entire month of April," a Litro spokesman said, adding that higher global LPG prices and shipping costs had forced the latestrevision. Last month, Sri Lanka raised both fuel and electricity prices by more than athird as US-Israeli strikes against Iran and retaliatory attacks drove upglobal energy prices.
