KUALA LUMPUR: No one saw it coming but national junior squash player Ooi Kah Yan pulled off a major upset to storm into her first-ever Professional Squash Association (PSA) final at the SRAM PSA 2. The 18-year-old took charge from start to finish as she stunned second seed Jemyca Aribado of the Philippines 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 in the semi-finals at the National Squash Centre yesterday. Jemyca found her pace in the second and both players were neck-and-neck but it was Kah Yan who took the second set before she built another commanding lead at 8-1 in the third to go all the way to win it. The petite-sized Kah Yan was still in a state of disbelief after the match. “I’ve watched her play the last few matches so I was expecting a really tough one but she made a lot of mistakes especially in the first and I took advantage of that,” said Kah Yan.
