He had to settle for silver at the Sochi Games four years ago after finishing behind team mate Jorrit Bergsma. "I think it's not a secret that it's really important to me," he said after his 5,000m gold. "It's really, really difficult. "It's nice to be here, it's nice to make history but now I'm really going to try and recover as soon as possible from this and I'm looking forward to the next competition. "I think my secret is that I'm really enjoying the sport and I really love what I'm doing," he said.
