Speed cameras, next to a skunk moving into your basement, are probably the least welcome of any sight in a neighborhood depending on whom you ask. Since Nov. 2018, authorities say, about 60 percent of the country’s speed cameras – around 3,200 - have been vandalized. In the early 00’s, England was besieged by a rash of speed camera destruction, some of which were attributed to Motorists Against Detection, or MAD. As frustrating and infuriating as it is to get a summons in the mail, though, studies have shown that speed cameras save lives. With speed camera corridors, cameras are moved to different locations on a road segment.
