A day after the spectrum auction, which saw total bids of less than 50% of the airwaves put on the block, the Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha attributed the low intensity bidding to the fact that it was not for survival and said government's focus would shift back to calls drops and other issues now. Post this auction they would not be able to do so. He said the government will now keep a greater tab on call drops and data throughput after it has addressed the spectrum issue by putting 2,354 megahertz (MHz) of airwaves in seven bands for sale in the latest auction. "The government should just tell operators to come back to the table and talk to them on call drops and data throughput in terms of speed and net neutrality. Of the Rs5.6 lakh crore worth of spectrum, the telcos picked barely 11.6% at Rs65789 crore.
