NewsA group of Japanese representatives, headed by Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abey met with President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence, yesterday. President took this opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Government of Japan for the warm hospitality extended to him during his state visit to Japan. During President Sirisena’s state visit to Japan, the Government of Japan agreed to provide further assistance in port development, digitalization, power and energy, tourism, health, infrastructure facilities and marine security. President Sirisena also appreciated the special assistance given by Japan for the oceanic security of the region. He requested the assistance of the representatives to provide technical assistance to eliminate the drug smuggling which has become a threat to the region.
