MetService meteorologist Lisa Murray said a week of warm weather in Southland at this time of the year was common. Invercargill City Council parks operations staff have been supplied with sunhats and sunscreen for their work. "It's all about protection from the sun ... safety is a priority," council parks manager Robin Pagan said.
