The state of emergency for Southland, including Fiordland, will end on Tuesday and be replaced by a Transition Notice. Emergency Management Southland controller Angus McKay said it was decided at a joint committee meeting on Monday to move to a transition notice for a 28-day period. "The transition notice allows us to continue with a co-ordinated Civil Defence response for Southland and provides for important ongoing resourcing." John Hawkins Southland Civil Defence manager Angus McKay flanked by Police Area Commander Mike Bowman and MP Damien O'Connor speaking at the Southland Flooding Event Meeting earlier this month. The state of emergency will change to the transition notice at 2.20pm.
