The air quality plan which got many Gore residents fired up has received its final stamp of approval, but that doesn't mean everyone is happy. Environment Southland councillors on Wednesday formally approved the Southland Regional Air Plan, after being told by staff a final appeal against the plan had been resolved. Following consultation, the regional council eased up on the first lot of proposed rules, which included timeframes for phasing out non-compliant fires. On Thursday, Hicks said while residents were not necessarily "happy" with the air plan, they were pleased Environment Southland had taken note of their concerns during consultation.
