Southern patients continue to wait for key diagnostic scansSupplied by Southern DHB Southern DHB chief executive Chris Fleming. Southern patients continue to wait for key diagnostic scans the Southern District Health Board 2016-17 annual report shows. The amount of patients waiting more than six weeks for MRI and CT scans have not met the board's targets, and have worsened on results from 2015-16. In order to combat these delays, the Southern DHB planned to extend hours of operation, provide additional CT scanners in rural hospitals, and recruit and train key radiology staff. Southern DHB chief executive Chris Fleming said the report highlighted the progress made in the systems and infrastructure needed to improve healthcare across the district.
