A man armed with a tomahawk allegedly tried to attack staff members closing up at a Nando's diner. "A male with an axe came into Nando's off the street and started randomly attacking staff," Waikato police Senior Sergeant Simon Cherry said. Nando's Assistant Manager Binoy Rajan was alerted to the incident when a staff member called at 10.10pm, saying a man had entered the store with an axe. Realising one of the staff members recognised him, the man ran off, Cherry said.
